Last night Peter & Stewart visited Showzam, Blackpool's Festival of circus, magic and new variety. The festival now in it's second year brings together performers from all over Europe for the one week festival to celebrate performance of circus and new variety.
The finale of the event was 'Heat in the Streets' that we attended last night. There was a parade first of all, followed by Street Theatre throughout Blackpool. All the street theatre was surrounding the theme of Fire. There were some fantastic installations
The grand finale was in the glamorous Bonney Street Car Park. This was using fire to harness the power of steam. Although it got off to a slow start it did pick up, and ended with pyrotechnics and fire balls.
We even got the bus into town, we'd like to think that it was helping our carbon footprint, but more so that we could partake in a few drinks after the festival. We were impressed with Blackpool Transports modern, clean buses and reasonable fares. It cost us £1.90 from St Annes to Blackpool each, where a taxi is the best part of £15.00. Do try the bus if you don't already.
Afterwards we ate with Friends Jason and Kevin at Nunzio's on Queen Street in Blackpool. It was lovely food, in a very fast paced Italian Restaurant. The place was packed, but you still felt you got the personal attention and service. The food was good, and the wine was flowing!!!
